40/50 Cranks

I'm almost done with the expansion -- yeah! At this point I look a little cartoonish -- early on I looked like SpongeBob, but now I'm thinking Goofy or Pippi Longstocking (maybe I'll dress up for Halloween this year). My gap is so large (6.5mm) that I can comfortably fit a large straw right down the middle. I asked my orthodontist about the "tipping" on the left and he agreed, but it's not a problem and will be corrected with the bracses. When I was having fluoride varnish painted on my teeth I saw all of my stitches for the first time -- I had never really realized just how many there were! I went to my last oral surgery follow-up appointment and things are going well -- nothing new at this point. My gums are still numb, but I think that this takes months to heal.

Hey:) Nice pics.
I just started turning. I need to do 40 cranks.

Do you have any tips for turning? My mom keeps getting it stuck!

:( I wonder when I can eat food! Im so sick of this liquid diet!

Take Care!

When you turn make sure that it's cranked ALL the way back, otherwise the hole is not fully visible in the front. I usually lay down and my husband cranks it. When you've turned it all the way back, don't jiggle it to get it out, just let it sit still for a second, and gently pull it out!

I'm still not eating normally, though pasta, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, ice cream and smoothies seem to be the bulk of my diet. Because you have a banded expander (mine is bonded), I bet you'll be able to eat more in the next week. The thing to watch out for is the fact that your jaw is loose so vigorous chewing could be painful (sandwiches, steak, etc.)! Kepp me updated!
